CONTRIBUTE TO FARRAGO
Farrago accepts cold submissions by UniMelb students and alumni. Both pitches and completed pieces are suitable.
Farrago publishes News, Non-fiction, Creative, Reviews, Visual Art, Puzzles, Advice Columns, etc.
Accepted pieces will be published either online or in print.

Farrago Submissions Guidelines
- Submissions must be the work of an University of Melbourne student or alumni;
- All submissions must be unpublished work;
- All written submissions must be submitted in a word processor document (e.g. Word, Google Docs, etc.);
- Pitches must be accompanied by examples of authors' previous works;
- All photography submissions must be submitted via Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.;
- No more than three submissions may be sent at once;
- Creative works must be accompanied by a 250 word contextualising statement;
- News and Non-fiction pieces must include source lists where applicable; &
- Regarding Fodder pitches: media passes to concerts, performances, shows, festivals and exhibitions may be requested.
Word limits are as follows:
- News: No more than 1,000 words.
- Non-fiction: No more than 1,500 words.
- Creative prose: No more than 2,000 words.
- Creative poetry: No more than 100 lines
- Photography: No more than three photographs.
- Comics: No more than 10 pages.
- Fodder: No more than 1500 words.
Submit to Above Water
Enter the annual creative writing competition and anthology.
Categories include:
Prose: Genre Fiction, Literary Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction (1500 words max)
Verse: Formal poetry and Free Verse (50 lines max)
Other: Experimental, hybrid, playscripts, ergodic, etc.
Winners and Shortlisted competitors will be published in the print anthology. Email all submissions to abovewater@farragomagazine.com
Please ensure your name does not appear in your piece (use an alias if you must). All submissions must state in SUBJECT LINE: Category, Title, Word/Line Count, UniMelb student number & optionally: if the piece’s subject matter concerns a marginalised experience, you may disclose whether you belong to the relevant group.
