Farrago Print Submissions

Submissions for the print edition will vary during the year—please keep an eye out on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for these announcements.

If you have missed a submission period for an edition, we also have rolling submissions where you will be considered for the following edition. Please send any enquiries about print submissions to editors@farragomagazine.com or contact us via Facebook.

 

Farrago Online Submissions

We are always open for online submissions! We publish fiction, creative non-fiction, non-fiction, experimental/hybrid work, poetry, comics, artworks, essays, and commentary. Have a gander around our website to get a feel of the type of student work we publish.

Guidelines

  • We only accept submissions by current University of Melbourne students or alumni.
  • We will only consider unpublished work.
  • If you are pitching, please include examples of your previous work.
  • We are happy to receive cold submissions.
  • Please send no more than three submissions at a time.

Word limits are as follows:

  • News: No more than 1,000 words.
  • Non-fiction: No more than 1,500 words.
  • Creative prose: No more than 2,000 words.
  • Creative poetry: No more than 100 lines.
  • Photography: No more than three photographs.
  • Comics: No more than 10 pages.

Radio Fodder Blog Submissions

Fodder Blog submissions are always open. The Blog has a very particular niche: we publish art and culture reviews, listicles, playlists, opinion pieces, essays, commentary, interviews.

  • We only accept submissions by current University of Melbourne students or alumni.
  • We will only consider unpublished work.
  • If you are pitching, please include examples of your previous work.
  • We are happy to receive cold submissions.
  • Please send no more than three submissions at a time.
  • We will generally accept work of up to 1,500 words.
  • If you would like to review a concert, performance, show, festival, or exhibition for Farrago, please send an email and we can try to organise a media pass for you.
