​Farrago Magazine publishes a diverse range of student work, within and beyond our six print editions. In Volume 102, we are seeking to expand our modes of delivery, integrating digital mediums into our publication cycle to produce relevant, innovative and accessible projects that speak truthfully to the student body. 

Send us your niche-est photojournalism, your weirdest multimodal poem, or pitch us an essay that you believe forms an important picture of our time. Our formal categories are:

News: Hard news, news features, local or global stories;

Features: Personal essays, opinion pieces, cultural commentary, profiles, interviews;

Creative: Poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, graphic stories and cartoons, scripts, experimental/multimodal pieces, etc.;

Reviews: Reviews of arts and cultural events and/or topics including film, books, music, theatre, food, games etc.;

Visual Art and Design: Graphic designs, illustrations, (photographs of) performed art or installations, collages, experimental/multimodal, etc.;

Photography: Photojournalism stories, photo series, standalone photographs;  

Satire: Satire-in-brief, satirical fiction, comics, cartoons; &

Puzzles: Crosswords, words searches, sudokus, etc. 


Submission guidelines:

1. Submissions must be the work of a University of Melbourne community member (student, staff, alumni, etc.).

2. All submissions must be previously unpublished work.

3. All written submissions must be submitted in a word processor document (e.g. Word, Google Docs, etc.).

4. Pitches must be accompanied by examples of authors' previous works.

5. All photography submissions must be submitted via Google Drive or OneDrive links. 

6. Creative works must be accompanied by a 250-word contextualising statement. 

7. News and Features pieces must include source lists where applicable.

8. Media passes to concerts, performances, shows, festivals and exhibitions may be requested through reviews@farragomagazine.com.

9. Media passes to protests, meetings and assemblies may be requested through news@farragomagazine.com.
