FIG TREE

A poem written by Rose Kennedy on fig trees.

Creative

Tangled fig leaves

             float

above my head

Green wind vertebrae

            listen

to the soft grey pearling in

          ascension

The tendrils

               of my mind

stretch out and

                 weave

over and around the skin

                    of the leaves

the bough

           curls between

the seeds.

The fig tree follows

               my skeleton

           heart

our roots and veins

              our arteries stained

a budding pulse of green.

Alexa Chung and Alex Turner have just broken up. His love letter has been leaked and Tumblr is raving about it—”my mouth hasn’t shut up about you since you kissed it.” Poetry at its peak: romance is alive.
