Spotify Sonnet — For the Spring

CreativePoetry

CW: delusional tales of one-sided romances

The night breeze carries         something sweet—        a peach tree

One word from you and     I would jump off     this ledge I'm on, baby

You come from         far away with         pictures in your eyes

of coffeeshops     and morning streets         in the blue and       silent sunrise

And if I seem to be afraid to live the life             that I have made in song
It's just that             I've been losing         so long

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?     Parsley, sage, rosemary,    and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there    She once was a true love             of mine

And springtime starts     but then it stops     in the name of something new
And all the senses     rise against this         (Coming back to you)

When you cycled by         here began all my dreams
The saddest thing     I've ever seen             and you never knew

How much     I really liked you—because I never even told you     (Oh, and I meant to)

But you can make decisions too         and you can have this heart         to break

And so it goes,         and so it goes        (And you're the only one who knows)
