AAYA x World of Mahjong Beginners Mahjong Workshop

Ever wanted to learn Mahjong but had no idea where to start? AAYA Unimelb and World of Mahjong are teaming up to bring you a fun, beginner-friendly Mahjong workshop!

Whether you’ve never touched a Mahjong tile before or have played a few times and want to sharpen your understanding, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn the fundamentals in a relaxed and social environment.

Throughout the session, experienced players from World of Mahjong will guide you through the basics, including how the game works, the tiles, key rules and strategies, before giving you the chance to put what you’ve learned into practice at the tables.

• A beginner-friendly introduction to Mahjong — no experience required
• Step-by-step guidance on the rules and fundamentals
• Plenty of hands-on playing time to practise what you learn
• A relaxed environment to meet students from AAYA, World of Mahjong and across UniMelb
• A fun way to challenge yourself and discover one of Asia’s most iconic games
