Event Overview

UNIT x ESSA: Deals & Decisions is a networking and information evening where the University Network for Investing and Trading (UNIT) and the Economics Student Society of Australia (ESSA) invite sponsor firms to connect with high-achieving students studying Finance and Economics ahead of future career and recruitment opportunities. Student attendees will be selected based on their demonstrated interest and suitability for the event.

The event will begin with a panel of sponsor representatives, offering students the chance to gain industry insights and learn more about future roles and pathways available to them. This will be followed by a networking session where attendees are invited to engage directly with sponsors, diving deeper into topics like firm culture, day-to-day responsibilities, and recruitment opportunities.

Sponsors will be provided with a designated table and area where they can present marketing materials and merchandise. Catering and drinks will be provided throughout the evening by the venue.

Panel Structure

Each panellist will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and their firm individually, giving the audience a brief description of their line of work and professional experience. Following this, the moderator will pose 2-3 broad careers-related questions to the panel. Panellists will be sent these questions in advance of the event to allow time for preparation.

Note: This structure is a guide, and the direction of the panel will most likely be less structured.

Each sponsor will be given a section of the foyer to set up for the networking event prior to the panel and will be allocated a committee member to help them do so. They are encouraged to bring banners, merch, or other promotional items to their networking segment.

Target Audience

This event looks to bring together high-achieving students from the Finance and Economics faculties, with a preference for students undertaking a double-major and demonstrating strong interest beyond the classroom. Through this event, UNIT and ESSA aim to offer our sponsors the chance to connect with talented pre-penultimate and penultimate students prior to their formal recruitment opportunities.
