Nursing Students’ Society
MUNSS will be holding a Special General Meeting where club members will have the opportunity to nominate themselves or a friend for a position on the club committee.

Attendance Options:
- You may attend in person or online via Zoom.
- ALL ATTENDEES MUST HAVE A VALID TICKET. Free tickets will be available on the UMSU website (link will be shared on the day).
- You must sign up for a ticket whether attending in person or online.
- Zoom link will be shared on the day.
- Ticket availability:
- Tickets will be available 15 minutes before the event begins and up to 30 minutes after the stated starting time.
- Late arrivals must sign in physically at the event or via an online form.
- Only registered attendance methods will be counted for voting and nominations.

What to Expect:
- Meet the current committee and ask questions about the club.
- Learn about available positions and nominate yourself or a peer.
- Give suggestions for future club events.

Election & Voting Process
Eligibility:
- Candidates must be MUNSS members. Memberships can be purchased via UMSU website.
- Candidates may self-nominate, be nominated by others, or be nominated via a proxy.
- Individuals without a valid ticket will not be eligible for nomination.
Election Process:
- Each candidate will deliver a 45-second speech outlining their suitability for the role.
- Voting will be conducted via OpaVote (online voting form). Please follow the Returning Officer’s instructions and allow time for vote tallying.
Proxy Voting:
- As per section 13 of our constitution:
- "Voting in all meetings shall be democratic, with a simple majority sufficing for the passage of a motion. All tied motions are lost."
- "Proxy voting may be permitted if arranged prior to the meeting and approved by the executive and/or returning officer."
- Proxy voting must be arranged before the event and approved by the committee.
- Each proxy must be assigned to a single person (one proxy per person).
- A proxy cannot be a 2025 Executive Committee member or officer.
- To register a proxy, email us at least five business days before the election.
- Pre-SGM nominations will not be accepted—all nominations must be made during the election process.
Final Notes:
- Arrive on time to ensure smooth elections and participation. The meeting will proceed only if a minimum of 20 members are present within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time.
