Show Up for Women!

This event aims to show solidarity with victims and survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), raise awareness about the importance of safety measures and support services, and collectively condemn acts of gender-based violence and violations of women’s privacy.

Join us as we plant 150 flags, each representing a woman who was filmed in bathrooms across Melbourne’s CBD and Parkville by University of Melbourne student Bao Phuc Cao. Together, we stand in solidarity with those affected and with every woman who may now feel unsafe or traumatised when using public bathrooms.

We want to reaffirm that such violations are unacceptable, that every woman deserves to feel safe and have her dignity respected, everywhere — you deserve to be safe@home and safe@uni.

Following the event, the Students’ Council meeting will begin at 11:00 am, during which a motion will be put to a vote to determine the union membership status of a registered sex offender. The Student Council is taking place online on zoom. All UniMelb students are entitled to attend council, if you wish to attend council, you can email the General Secretary: Secretary@union.unimelb.edu.au

Stand with survivors. Demand safety. Show up for women.
