Campus Control: Power, surveillance and disciplining of protest in Victoria’s universities Workshop

This report is authored by a working group formed from the Rights Advocacy Project (RAP), an initiative of Liberty Victoria centred in Naarm/Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.i The work of the RAP (formerly Young Liberty for Law Reform) has spanned a range of issues including government accountability, equality, criminal justice reform, as well as advancing the rights of First Nations people and refugees and people seeking asylum. Liberty Victoria and its RAP have contributed significantly to public debate in Australia, with its considered and independent input having been cited in government inquiries and law reform debates in Victoria and Australia more broadly.   The working group authoring this report is a community of lawyers and law students with broad-ranging experience across civil society, community legal centres, and advocacy and government accountability groups. We share firsthand experience in protest, advocacy and activism in Victoria.
