IMPORTANT: SummerFest 2023 Updates

no-newsstaff

Hi everyone,

Despite what the current weather might have you believe, SummerFest 2023 is fast approaching! Next year, SummerFest will run from 21-24 February, with a focus on building community, fostering friendships and helping students have 'fun in the sun'. SummerFest is many students first exposure to UMSU, so it's a great opportunity for students to get to know us and showcase what we do.

Whether you're a seasoned orientation pro or new to UMSU, everything you need to know about SummerFest lives on the SummerFest Playbook on the Intranet. Bookmark this link and make sure you're checking it often to stay up to date with deadlines and other important info.

As mentioned in the Staff News last week, applications for SummerFest are open now until Friday 6 January. As with all things SummerFest, the application form is located on the Playbook

This year, each UMSU department has the opportunity to run one event/activity during SummerFest as part of our 'House Party' program. If your department is keen on being involved, it's time to put your thinking caps on and start brainstorming what event your department wants to run during SummerFest. The Playbook also contains a bunch of event ideas and more information on potential space activations if you're feeling stuck.

Event applications will be presented to the SummerFest Steering Group, who have the final say over the SummerFest program. Applications will be assessed on how well they meet our goal of helping students make friends and meaningful connections, so make sure to keep this in mind when planning your event. The final program will be announced in mid-Jan 2023. If you have any questions about this process, please bring these up with your Divisional Manager.

Drop by the CME Help Desk on Level 4, B168 if you have any questions or just want to chat things out before submitting your applications. Don’t leave it too late though - the sooner we start getting the planning vibe down, the better the party vibes shall undoubtedly be!
