This workshop will teach how to document artwork—flatwork, textured 2D pieces, sculpture, and installations—using both common household and professional equipment. The class will cover camera setup and positioning, composition, and lighting equipment setups to achieve accurate and high-quality imaging.

Participants will learn how to represent the materiality of artwork and consider how its interpretation is changed and controlled through photographic representation. Understanding how light works and how to manipulate it, as well as camera perspective and composition, will be a key focus in the workshop.

Participants are invited to bring along their own artwork and/or equipment (cameras, lights, etc), though not necessary. A camera phone will also be useful.
