Dive into the world of projection art and spatial storytelling in this hands-on workshop series led by multi-award-winning artist Yandell Walton. Over three weekly workshops during July 2025, students will explore the fundamentals of moving image installation, from concept development and editing to site-responsive projection and exhibition design.

Known for immersive and interactive environments, Walton’s practice blends performance, technology, and ecological inquiry to create evocative works that blur the line between the real and the virtual. Her installations have been featured in major festivals and public spaces across Australia and internationally, including Rising, Dark Mofo, VIVID, and the International Symposium of Electronic Art.

Participants will be guided through creative and technical processes to develop a single large multichannel video artwork, displayed in an exhibition at the George Paton Gallery as part of the MUDfest program in August. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a leading contemporary artist and contribute to a dynamic, student-led festival celebrating experimentation, collaboration, and new ideas.

No prior experience required — just curiosity and a desire to work with moving images in space.
