rhubarb

3 March 2015

the pale verdant sheen
of speckled innards
has outrageous appeal

you toe-curling tart,
difficult vegetable.

splinters rouge
the bamboo block
as I carve.

I’ll drown you in batter
dampen that acerbic bite

now fit for consumption
I relinquished you to
a light and fluffy demise.
