The Melbourne University Biomedical Engineering Society (MUBES) is excited to announce the return of Medithon — our flagship biomedical hackathon, bringing together students from engineering, science, medicine, design, business, and beyond to tackle real-world healthcare challenges through innovation.

Over three days, participants will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to develop an original medical device or healthcare solution, supported by mentors from academia and industry before pitching their ideas to a panel of judges.

Unlike previous years, Medithon 2026 features an open challenge, giving teams complete creative freedom to identify a problem they're passionate about and design a solution that could make a real impact.

Whether you're interested in MedTech, biotechnology, healthcare, entrepreneurship, product design, or simply enjoy solving challenging problems, Medithon is designed for students of all experience levels. No prior hackathon experience is required — just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to collaborate.
