About Royal Park:
Royal Park, the largest open space in the City of Melbourne, spans 170 hectares and is protected under the Victorian Heritage Register. This vast native vegetation landscape is an oasis on the edge of the city.
Trin Warren Tam-boore (Bellbird Waterhole):
Our birdwatching focus will be on Trin Warren Tam-boore, an urban wetland in the north-west of Royal Park. Designed to treat stormwater runoff from surrounding suburbs, this wetland provides habitat for wildlife and supplies recycled water for park use.
Wetland Features:
-
Treatment Wetland: Acts as a natural filter, where Australian native plants treat and clean stormwater through natural biological processes.
-
Storage Wetland: Holds processed clean water, used to irrigate areas of Royal Park, with excess flowing to Port Phillip Bay.
Join us for a tour guided by our Secretary, Qifan. We look forward to seeing you there!
