30/07/2025 - 30/07/2025 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Room 353, Arts West Building

Amnesty International University of Melbourne

AMNESTY UNIMELB is proud to host its first event, a WELCOME NIGHT for an educational, non-for-profit screening of the award-winning documentary The Look of Silence

Whether you're passionate about human rights, curious about activism, or just looking to connect with like-minded people, this is the perfect way to get involved.

The Look of Silence is a profound and moving exploration of Indonesia’s 1965–66 anti-communist purge, one of the 20th century’s deadliest massacres. Through the story of Adi, a man confronting the perpetrators of his brother’s murder, the film examines themes of memory, denial, and the long shadow of impunity. It’s a rare and courageous piece of filmmaking that sheds light on the importance of truth and reconciliation in the face of state violence.

We will also give an roadmap of AMNESTY UNIMELB'S planned events and goals for the semester, and also a chance to discuss any questions about the movie and how it relates to our vision! So if you are interested in education around human rights globally, and want to engage in deep discussions about the most pressing issues in the world, become a member now!

To attend this screening, you must be a member of Amnesty International University of Melbourne (see this LINK for FREE membership).
